Get your notepads for this routine...

I have been doing my hair on my own since before I could remember. Now at 22, I have established a well thought out routine for my hair.

My hair is thick, coarse and wavy/curly. It does not get oily easy and maintains any hairstyle well. Usually, I wash my hair 1-2 times a week. Depending on how my hair is on wash day is how I determine how I care for it. I love taking showers in the evening, so my hair care routine is normally done at night.

To see the exact name of the products, you can look under "Haircare."

For oily hair days, I extra cleanse. My pre-wash includes detangling my hair with a wide tooth comb or paddle brush depending on how tangled it is. If I am oiling my hair, this is when I would do it. I oil my hair every 2-3 washes using the Mielle Rosmary Oil. I section my hair place the oil directly on my scalp. I lightly massage it in and continue with that process all over my scalp. I do not bring it to my ends. During the wash, I double cleanse with either the Living Proof or Hairitage shampoo. I let the shampoo sit for a couple of minutes before each rinse. No conditioner is used in the shower. After the wash, I squeeze out the extra water with a towel. I spray the EvaNYC detangler and heat protectant in my hair while using wide tooth comb to detangle. Wet hair is very fragile! I feel this product works best when the hair is blow-dried after applying. After letting my hair airdry for about 20-30 minutes, I blow-dry straight with a paddle brush. I then blow-dry upside down for extra volume.

For dry hair days, my pre-wash includes detangling my hair with a wide tooth comb or paddle brush depending on how tangled it is. Once again, if I am oiling my hair, I would do it now. After the oiling/detangling, I use a hair mask to condition my hair. Personally, I have found that my hair gets greasier faster and weighed down when conditioning after the shampoo in the shower. For my regular conditioning mask, I will use the EvaNYC Therapy Session Hair Mask. If my hair is on the drier side, I will use the Macadamia Deep Conditioning Mask. For any deep conditioning mask, I apply to the mids and ends following up with a wide tooth comb to allow the product to be distributed evenly. Ideally you would like to leave the mask on for a minimum of 20 minutes. The longer you let it sit the more nourished your hair will feel. Sometimes I will place it in the my hair in the morning and slick it back into a bun to allow it to marinate for longer. During the wash, I will proceed with the same shampoo and routine. After the wash, I squeeze out the extra water with a towel and spray the EvaNYC detangler and heat protectant in my hair Once that is absorbed, I will also use an oil. I am very particular with my oil and mainly use the Verb Ghost Oil or the EvaNYC split end mender if my hair needs a little extra TLC. After 20-30 minutes of airdrying, the products are blow-dried in.

On very humid days or if I know there will some within this wash cycle, I will also spray the ColorWOW Dream Coat while my hair is still wet. It is heat activated so my hair will need to be blow-dried!

Once dried, I wait about an hour or the next day to style it!
